Grantee Spotlights
Thank you to all of the agencies below who presented their program to the OFCY Planning and Oversight Committee! Below are just some of the 74 agencies funded by OFCY.
BANANAS
BANANAS's Community Programs are aligned with OFCY Program Strategies by providing free educational playgroups for families and caregivers to encourage early literacy, early math and science, movement and play, parent education and peer support groups for access to essential social-emotional tools and community development, financial coaching and free tax services and more. ArtEsteem
The Center for ArtEsteem’s mission is to empower individuals to be self-aware and inspired through art, creativity, and education, making positive choices to break the cycle of violence for themselves and their communities. With OFCY funding, ArtEsteem has been able to deepen their partnerships and relationships with school communities by offering comprehensive support that spans both academic and after-school programming across the majority of our sites. Oakland Lacrosse Club (OLC)
Oakland Lacrosse Club (OLC) provide support to Oakland Public School students in becoming healthy, confident, and self-empowered youth who effectively navigate systems, overcome challenges, and achieve their education and life goals. OLC’S success is achieved through their year-round program options where relationships are specifically developed through the Spring Team Experience, 1-on-1 mentoring, summer ambassador and more. ASPIRE
Aspire's, Community Reading Buddies (CRB), recruits and trains young adults (ages 13-18) throughout Oakland to become Youth Mentors. OFCY's funding has allowed CRB to shift from a summer-only program to be year-round, with programming running throughout the fall, spring, and summer each year. The Hidden Genius Project
The Hidden Genius Project trains and mentors Black male youth in technology creation, entrepreneurship and leadership skills to transform their lives and communities. Alameda County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)
CASA connects young people in foster care with trained volunteer advocates who promote their best interests, provide stability, and help them build a brighter future. With support from OFCY, CASA has been able to offer educational, physical, and mental health support, develop independent living skills, prepare youth for long-term economic security, and more. East Bay Consortium
East Bay Consortium increases the number of college-bound students by strengthening math skills and raising college awareness. With funding from OFCY, the program served 83 students last summer. As a result, the average score on math assessments increased to 100%, and college readiness assessment scores improved by an average of 15%. For more information on East Bay Consortium, click here.

Genesys Works
Genesys Works provides pathways to career success for high school students. Support from OFCY has enabled Genesys Works to invest early in students' lives, ultimately making a positive impact on the future workforce. Youth Alive, Teens on Target (TNT)
TNT is a stipend-based, after-school leadership program for high school students, designed to empower youth to become change agents in their communities. To learn more about TNT, click here.

Family Support Services - Kinship Youth Summer Program
Family Support Services - Kinship Youth Summer Program falls under OFCY’s Summer Academic and Enrichment Programs strategy. Their mission is to nurture children, youth, and caregivers to keep families healthy and intact.

Through the Looking Glass (TLG)
TLG mission is to provide and encourage respectful and empowering services for families that have children, parents, or grandparents with disability or medical issues. OFCY’s funding is allows TLG to provide therapeutic summer playgroups for Oakland Head Start/Early Head Start students, ACT-Raising Safe Kids (ACT-RSK) on-line parenting groups and developmental consultation services. The Youth Employment Partnership, Inc. (YEP)
YEP is a youth workforce development has served more than 34,000 young people in the Oakland since 1973. Click here to learn more about YEP.

Refugee & Immigrant Transitions (RIT)
RIT mission is to welcome and partner with people who have sought refuge, employing strengths-based educational approaches and community supports, so they may thrive in our shared communities. For more information about RIT, click here.

East Bay Asian Youth Center (EBAYC)

Trybe
Trybe falls under OFCY’s Oakland Summer Youth Employment strategy. Trybe provides job and internship opportunities across three local parks to 58 youth. For more information about Trybe, click the link.

Lotus Bloom
Lotus Bloom is a collective of family resource centers where children aged 0-5 and their parents/caregivers learn, play, gain confidence and find connections to other parents, local resources, and education resources. Click here to find out more about Lotus Bloom.

College Track
College Track equips scholars facing systemic barriers to earn a bachelor’s degree in pursuit of a life of opportunity, choice, purpose, and power. For more information on College Track, click here.

Prescott Circus Theater
Prescott Circus Theater hosts a six-week intensive summer program for rising 4th grade students at Prescott Elementary School with a priority for current and former Prescott Youth Theater youth & students who qualify for free / reduced lunch. Restorative Justice for Oakland Youth (RJOY)
RJOY’s mission is to increase mental health and wellness for underrepresented and BIPOC communities using restorative justice practices. OFCY funds the RJOY Youth Internship Program. Click here for more information on RJOY.
