DESCRIPTION: Each year, the POC develops a RFP and oversees a competitive granting process. This process results in funding recommendations that are presented to the City Council for its approval. The grants awarded under this RFP will be part of OFCY's eighth funding cycle.

There are four RFPs that targets a specific age range of ages and strategies. The eight strategies are summarized below. Please see the RFP and our 2006-2010 Strategic Plan for details on the strategies.

      • Services for Children with Special Needs, ages 0 to 5 years
      • Parent - Child Learning, ages 0 to 5 years
      • Comprehensive After School, ages 6 to 10 years
      • Comprehensive After School, ages 11 to 14 years
      • Summer Enrichment, ages 6 to 14 years
      • Career and College Readiness, ages 15 to 20 years
      • Youth Leadership, ages 15 to 20 years
      • Physical and Behavioral Health, All ages

WHO CAN APPLY?
In most case, the lead applicant can be a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization OR a public agency. Please check your RFP for details.

HOW MUCH IS AVAILABLE?
A minimum of $9.5 million dollars annually will be available to competitive proposals.

WHEN ARE APPLICATIONS DUE?
Proposals are due by Monday, January 9, 2006.

HOW DO I LEARN MORE?
Bidder's conferences, technical assistance sessions, and the FAQ. The purpose of the Bidders' Conference is to provide general information and guidance around applying to the RFP. The meetings will take place November - January. Please check back to see specific times and locations.
